itinerary

Day 1: Colombo – Negombo
From Colombo airport, you’ll be transferred to Negombo, about 15 minutes away. After checking in you’ll have time to relax before your welcome dinner.

Day 2: Negombo – Dambulla
An early morning boat ride on the Dutch canal is an awesome way to start the day. You’ll then leave for Dambulla about 3.5hrs away, with lunch en-route and visit Dambulla Cave temple on the way. Once you check into your hotel you’ll have time to chill before dinner.

Day 3: Sigiriya Rock
In the morning you’ll visit Sigiriya fortress and then transfer to the research centre.

Day 4-8: Wasgamuwa – Elephant Project
This is the main focus of the programme, where you’ll get up close and personal with one of the planet’s most fascinating and humbling species. From tracking to camera traps, GPS systems and data collection, you’ll be an important part of the team to help conserve and protect both the elephants and the communities in which they love.

Day 9: Kandy
After the project you’ll make your way to Kandy, about 3.5hrs away with a lunch stop on the way, and in the evening you’ll visit the sacred city of Kandy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, including the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Day 10 Negombo
Today you’ll make your way back to Negombo with plenty of time to relax and enjoy your last evening and farewell dinner.

Day 11: Departure
