As the UK’s first travel company to become a Certified B Corporation in 2016, Flooglebinder is committed to operating with sustainability top-of-mind. Flooglebinder ensures that all travel is done with purpose and creates a positive impact.

Therefore, it is vital that we ensure that social and environmental policies are in place, which means working with the right suppliers and sharing best practice. We need to ensure that suppliers:

  • Enforce safe working conditions

  • Ensure employees are treated with respect and dignity

  • Consideration is taking towards their supply chain

  • Consideration is taking towards accommodation options

  • Animal welfare policies are in place

  • Child protection policies are in place

  • Single-use plastic is eliminated, and

  • Social and environmental standards are kept to high standards.

This Code of Conduct acts as a set of standards that Flooglebinder expects its suppliers/third parties to adhere to and promote. All suppliers/third parties will receive an online form that they must complete and sign to work with Flooglebinder, ensuring that they meet the highest of social and environmental standards.

Labour Standards

Suppliers need to ensure that they follow UN guidelines and if a country’s labour laws do not meet elementary international standards, they should move beyond national legislation. They can use international standards such as SA8000 as a benchmark. Elementary international standards have been defined and agreed by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), a global forum in which governments and social partners of its 183 member states can freely debate on minimum labour standards. Further information can be found here. Suppliers need to ensure that they pay a living wage, move industry benchmarks and offer employee benefits and continual professional development.

This includes but not limited to: working hours, living wage (not minimum wage), benefits, safe conditions of work, zero slavery, child labour, exploitation or trafficking. Suppliers must ensure that no discrimination takes place on the basis of gender, race, age, disability,  ethnicity, religion/beliefs, political beliefs or sexual orientation

Environmental Policies

Suppliers need to ensure that they comply with all local laws and regulations and in most cases exceed national benchmarks. Commitments need to be made towards decarbonisation strategies in line with the Paris Agreement to stay below 1.5°C and return back to pre-industrial levels as soon as possible to decrease the risk for irreversible change. They should have environmental management systems in place, such as ISO14000, and policies should cover the above topics.

This includes but not limited to: water management, waste management, energy use, food management, carbon management, use of single-use plastics and animal welfare.

Animal Welfare

Flooglebinder’s mission is to protect endangered species and threatened habitats and as a result we have very strict animal welfare policies and expect suppliers to follow these. Suppliers will not offer any activities that promote or use animals as a form of entertainment and if any animals are held captive, they are done so in accordance with local, national, and international laws, and for the use of education and/or research purposes.

During activities that do involve wildlife, strict precautions are taken to not interfere with their natural behaviours. Suppliers will limit any interference as much as possible and if any animals seem stressed or show irregular behaviour they will leave immediately. Suppliers will not feed or alter any animal behaviour and will not take part in elephant riding activities or hunting.

Suppliers will ensure that no species are removed from their environment unless for the use of education and/or research purposes and with the right permits. Furthermore, the supplier will not promote souvenirs or food that contain threatened flora and fauna species as indicated in the IUCN ‘Red List and CITES.

Auditing and termination

Suppliers need to share mentioned policies and following their onboarding and/or annual reviews, an audit will be conducted by senior management at Flooglebinder to ensure that the correct standards are met. Failure to do so will result in a transition period of 3 months to implement these changes (unless otherwise agreed) or all services will be terminated until approval by senior management has been granted.

Anti-corruption

Suppliers need to ensure that they comply with anti-corruption laws, including Bribery Act 2010, which prohibits: offering or accepting bribes, gifts, favours, benefits to influence any business decisions or engage in any corruption, extortion or fraudulent activity.

Collaboration

Flooglebinder is aware that social and environmental goals and standards are a working progress and constant monitoring and improvements are required, which can take time and involve additional resources and tools. Flooglebinder is happy to assist with all suppliers and stakeholders to achieve these goals collaboratively.

Health and safety

Flooglebinder’s primary concern is the health and safety of its clients and suppliers/ third parties must adhere to maintaining Flooglebinder’s policies and codes of conducts. Risk Assessments are completed together and all procedures and practices must be adhered to and constantly monitored and adapted as needs be. If any issues arise these must be reported immediately (when safe to do so) and if any changes need to be actioned they must be agreed by all parties and implemented accordingly.

Vehicles

Any vehicles that are used through any services provided must be constantly checked and maintained and fit for purpose. This includes any supporting equipment and features, such as bicycle helmets, lifejackets and seatbelts etc. All vehicles must be inspected before use and have the correct paperwork, checks, insurance and drivers. Including necessary licences, permits and training of staff. All vehicles must comply with local laws and regulations.

Personal Information

Suppliers need to ensure that all data that is shared must be stored and deleted appropriately, in accordance with international standards and data protection rights . There must be measures in place to protect all data and information shared, whether to do with the business operations (IP info), personal data, clients information and/or employees.

We expect all suppliers to comply with applicable local, national and international laws, regulations and industry standards.
