THE CLIMATE SWEATER

Inspiring change through adventure is on hold for now, so we decided to do it with a jumper instead…

Our mission is to protect vulnerable habitats and threatened species, whilst tackling mental health, which we do through adventure. So, when the world came to a halt, we knew we had to find another path…

One jumper | One planet

For every jumper made, ten plastic bottles are removed from the ocean floor

It’s not just a jumper

We’ve been destroying our planet for years but there is still time to do the right thing and we can all play our part. From sustainable travel to sustainable fashion, agriculture, green energy and green investments.

For many of us, it’s what we buy and where we buy it from. This means reducing our meat and dairy intake, buying from ethical and organic producers, and reducing our flying and internet time. We don’t know much about farming or tech but we know a little bit about fashion… And one thing we do know, is that everyone loves a good sweater.

“That’s why we decided to create The Climate Sweater”

Oceans | Trees

10% of revenue to support our two most important ecosystems

It’s actually really simple…

What is it made from?

It’s made from SEAQUAL® YARN, which is a high quality 100% post-consumer recycled polyester containing Upcycled Marine Plastic. Basically, around 10 x 330ml plastic bottles are in each and every jumper. We use a 25:75 mix, with the balance being GOTS certified organic cotton. Once you purchase your jumper, 10% goes towards supporting carbon reductions programmes, both marine and terrestrial, and a further 5% goes towards supporting mental health campaigns.

Why are we doing this?

Over 1 million species are at risk due to climate change and in 2020 natural disasters caused over $210bn in damage. Global temperatures are rising, currently around 1.2°C higher than pre-industrial levels (1880–1900), increasing heat waves, droughts and wildfires. Surface water temperatures are rising, causing coral bleaching, and melting ice caps, further contributing to global warming, known as a positive feedback loop, which will be irreversible by 2030.

What’s happening?

Carbon Dioxide is one of the main concerns causing the Greenhouse effect, which is caused by the burning of fossil fuels and our demand and addiction to 'consume’. We must turn to green energy, reduce our meat and dairy and think about the way we travel. Buying from ethical brands, such as B Corporations, means that you’re contributing to a sustainable future and using your purchasing power to promote responsible consumption and production.

Ocean

The ocean produces over 50% of the worlds oxygen (mainly from oceanic plankton) and absorbs 25% of the carbon dioxide that we produce. It regulates our climate, provides food for over 3 billion people and supports the livelihoods of over 10% of our global population. It is one of, if not, the most important ecosystem on our planet. That’s why we’ve chosen to support Conservation Diver, who educate, train and certify the next generation of marine conservationists.

Trees

The Amazon is the world’s largest rainforest and the most biodiverse ecosystem on the planet, home to over 10% of the world’s species. It provides us with medicine, food, jobs and regulates the world’s carbon and oxygen cycles, as well as our ocean currents. That’s why we’ve chosen to support Crees who focus on conservation and community for a sustainable future.
